Updated: Nov 18, 2022

The previous article,College Dorm Room: How to Decorate on a Budget” gives tips and ideas on how to decorate your dorm room on a budget, and it focuses on important elements such as mattress protectors, storage, light fixtures, and other dorm room essentials. This article will take into consideration storage containers as well, but it will focus on the different customers. Those who like being organized, and those who do not particularly like being organized. The intent of this article is to give students and their parents ideas on how to be organized, to make the transition to college as smooth as possible.

Tips on how to stay organized

Students that love being organized will enjoy researching storage containers more. After buying the Fabric Underbed Storage organizer bags and the Over-the-Door Shoe Organizer, mentioned on College Dorm Room: How to Decorate on a Budget”, students will look for hangers, desk organizers and bed side caddies.

Functional Hangers

The space saving Devasenter Pants Hangers in the picture is great for pants, jeans, skirts, scarfs, ties, and belts. The multifunctional hangers are sold for $23.99 on Amazon, has 4.4 stars and 1,704 ratings. The best part about this product is that it comes as pack of 6! A must have in an organized student’s room!

Regular Hangers

In addition, you can buy a pack of 30 clothes hangers for only $18.74! The ones in the picture are the Amazon Basics Slim, Velvet, Non-Slip Suit Clothes Hangers. They have 4.8 stars, 180,518 ratings and an awesome price!

Desk Organizer

Not only do clothes and shoes require organization, but your new desk also does, and the SimpleHouseware Mesh Desk Organizer shown in the picture is the best option! It is the #1 Best Seller in File Folder Racks & File Folder Holders, sold on Amazon for $24.18. The desk organizer comes in two colors, has 4.7 stars and 31,768 ratings.

Bed Side Caddie

Last but not least, why not maximize the space you have in your dorm room just by adding bed side caddies? The Zafit Bedside Storage Organizer can be a great solution where you can store your electronics and other items, such as phone, iPad, chargers, glasses, and notebooks. This organizer only costs $7.99, has 4.5 stars and 9,016 ratings on Amazon. I recommend buying two because it comes in handy when you have a lot of electronics!

How to stay organized when you are not organized

It is important to note how multifunctional hangers, a desk organizer and bed side caddies can be tremendously helpful for students who want to be organized. But what about those who do not like being organized? How can this article help all the students out there? It can because there is a solution! Get a lot of bins! Bins are easy to find. You can find them online, at home décor stores, and you can even build them if you like making things with your hands. The great characteristic about bins is that they come in different variants such as fabric, plastic, wicker, with lid or without, foldable or sturdy. Everyone can find the right bins for their own lifestyle.

Bins

I personally recommend the FabTotes Storage Bins from Amazon. The bins costs $19.99, have 4.5 stars and 2,372 ratings. Not only do these products come in six pack collapsible storage cubes, which are easy to move, but they also have label cards and label holders so you can write what is inside.

Therefore, you can use these bins for everything. You can store any kind of clothes such as pants, shirts, and socks inside of them, and in addition you can even store shoes, books, and electronics. These are an easy solution for those who are not organized, but want to know where all their things are.
