After deciding your room style, and making the best use of small spaces, it is time to focus on the areas you are going to share more often than you have ever thought! The bathroom and laundry room require part of your budget too. The best way to figure out what you need when you share these spaces, is to make a quick checklist because there are a few items that you are going to need. This article will walk you through the college essentials you will need for the shared bathroom and laundry room.
Shared Bathroom
The first thing to pack when you share bathrooms is a good pair of flip-flops or waterproof slides.

Flip-Flops / Women
I think the best deal for your money and at the same time great quality, are the flip-flops sold by Old Navy. I personally love them! The Flip-Flop Sandals for Women shown in the picture come in 7 different colors, have 4.6 stars and 4,208 ratings, and they only cost $4.99. Now, you also get a 50% off at checkout when you buy them online!

Flip-Flops / Men
The ones for men, come at the same price and three different colors. The Flip-Flop Sandals for Men have 4.6 stars and 526 ratings.

Slides
And, if you do not like wearing flip-flops, you can buy waterproof slides. The ones I choose are the Cloud Slide Slippers for Women and Men, sold by Amazon. They come in 27 different colors, have 4.2 stars and 1,344 ratings. The best thing about this product is that they only cost $9.98!
The next item on the bathroom essentials list are towels!

Towels
If you do not want to use your high school towels, you can buy a 6-piece towel set for only $31.49 on Amazon. The Amazon Basics Odor Resistant Texture Bath Towel Set has 4.6 stars and 35 ratings. The set includes 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, and 2 wash clothes. In addition, the set is light, so easy to transport when moving to a new space.
After deciding on waterproof sandals and towels, it is time to choose a good shower caddie.

Shower Caddie
The shower caddie is an amazing item to have because you can keep all your shower accessories in one place. The Attmu Mesh Shower Caddy Portable for College Dorm Room Essential, sold by Amazon at $7.99 is the shower caddie I recommend. It has 4.6 stars and 13,046 ratings. Since the shower caddie has 8 pockets, you can store shampoo, conditioner, cream, lotion, brush, toothpaste/toothbrush, towel, and razors. Another quality of this shower caddie? It dries quickly!
Bathroom essentials shopping done!
Shared Laundry Room
Now, let’s talk about the laundry room. Not everyone thinks about the laundry room when packing for college, but it does require some thought too. A collapsible hamper and a collapsible laundry hanger rack should be added to the dorm room list as well.

Collapsible Hamper
The Sammart 42L (11 Gallons) Collapsible Plastic Laundry Basket sold by Amazon is a great option. It has 4.8 stars and 5,919 ratings. The characteristics I like about this basket are the fact that it is collapsible, so you can store it in small spaces, and I also like the material. In fact, because it is plastic, you can wash it any time you want, and your clean clothes are not going to smell like the dirty ones. You can also use this basket during the moving process because it can hold up to 11 gallons. The laundry basket is a little pricy, because it costs $30.70, but because it has so many qualities and functionalities, it should be added to the shared laundry room list!

Collapsible Laundry Hanger Rack
The Amazon Basics Foldable Laundry Rack should be added to the shared laundry room list because not everything can be dried in the dryer. This rack costs $23.66, has 4.7 stars and has 51,526 ratings. It is foldable, so you can store it in small spaces with no problem. I like the idea of a foldable laundry rack because it can be used for other reasons too, such as hanging a wet towel and the shower caddie.
The first thing that comes to mind when college students are close to going to college is how to decorate their dorm room. The bathroom and laundry room do not get so many thoughts at first, but eventually do. Students soon realize how much they need for those shared spaces. The intent of this article is to guide you during your research. Adding bathroom and laundry essentials to your dorm room list will improve your everyday life at the campus. What would you add to your bathroom and laundry room essentials list? Please use the comment section below to answer this question. I like to hear from you!
And if you were following along, you know that now is the time for me to reveal how much I would spend to decorate my dorm room in a “Dorming on a Dime” style. I would only spend $409.90!! Were your guesses right? Let me know!
The items I would buy are a mattress protector, two sets of under bed storage bags, an over the door shoe organizer, a functional desk light and a decorative light to make my room cozier. These items can all be found in my first blog “College Dorm Room: How to Decorate on a Budget”. Then, I would add some functional hangers, regular hangers, a desk organizer and two bed side caddies to make the best of the small space I will be living in. These items can be found on my second blog “How To Be Organized” . Finally, I would get another pair of flip-flops, a new and fresh towel set, a shower caddie, a collapsible laundry basket and a collapsible laundry rack, mentioned in this blog. My dorm room shopping list is completed!
